POCKET WATCH

_MG_0316 _MG_0326 _MG_0367 _MG_0376 _MG_0446 _MG_0461 _MG_0481 _MG_0555wearing: h&m top, decade skirt and necklace, thrifted purse, born boots

My friend Marion is in town from Germany, so my last few days have been spent being a tour guide. We’ve meandered around downtown taking in the sites and sounds. I even went inside the Parliament buildings for the first time! I’ve only lived in Victoria my whole life… Parliament was in session, so we got to witness the MLAs wildly banging their tables in support of their party’s speakers. It was quite entertaining.

Marion and I will be leaving for Montreal and Toronto on Tuesday! I’m so excited. We’re going to Osheaga, a Blue Jays game and of course much more.

Lots of love,

Kate

NOTHING IS NEW

_MG_0576_MG_0479_MG_0518_MG_0870_MG_0771_MG_0868_MG_0873_MG_0663wearing: everything is thrifted or from the Victoria Vintage Fair

photos by Carly Dame

I can’t remember the last time I wore a completely thrifted/secondhand look. I think this outfit works because all of the pieces are in excellent condition and fit well. For example my blazer is Ralph Lauren and my shoes are leather and made in Italy. The other pictures in this post are of street performers in downtown Victoria and a Friday night market (no, I do not know that man…).

I woke up to jackhammering this morning, was about to curse the neighbours, then realized it was coming from my house. My parents are renovating the basement, so I’m sure I’ll have many more months of being awoken by jakhammers, chainsaws, table saws and other loud obnoxious power tools. Yes.

I went to the Victoria Vintage Fair this past weekend and found a gorgeous beaded, sequin top and pretty white slip that I’ll probably need another slip for because it’s so transparent. There was a summer market next to the vintage fair so I had to sample some ice cream and other goodies.

Lots of love,

SALMON KING

photos by Carly Dame and me

I got this dress from a local shop here in Victoria and it was 50% off. My Mom and I had just been to the grocery store to buy salmon, popsicles and other perishable foods when she decided she wanted a bottle of wine. As we were walking to the liquour store I decided to pop into True Boutique. It was lucky I did because I found this wonderful dress and a couple other tops. Needless to say the popsicles were a bit melted when we got home, but the salmon was fine.

I decided to fancy up my dress by wearing heels, a blazer and red lipstick. I’m not used to wearing lipstick, so it got everywhere. Occasionally I would look at my fingers, see it smeared there, and panic. I don’t think I got any on my clothes, but I managed to get it all over my teeth.

Carly and I ventured to Fisherman’s Wharf to take these photos in the wind and sun. She had a constant battle with the wind, her hair, and lip gloss, so I was glad I wore my hair up. I imagine I would have little lines of lipstick all over my face!

Lots of love,

Kate

JUNE 2013

_MG_9215_1 _MG_9220_1 _MG_9226_1 _MG_9247 _MG_9256 _MG_9264 _MG_9281 _MG_9697 _MG_9709 _MG_9713 _MG_9714 _MG_9722 _MG_9723 _MG_9742 _MG_9760 _MG_9778 _MG_9784 _MG_9786 _MG_9795This is what my June looked like when I wasn’t at work, taking outfit photos, reading Game of Thrones, playing mini golf, or watching This is the End. The first seven photos are of my friend Jen and I hiking to the Goldstream trestle. I almost died running across the highway and leaping over cement medians – sorry there are no pictures. The next seven photos are of a beach day I spent at Dallas Road with my friends Wayne and Jared. The wind surfers are always entertaining to watch – sometimes they get 15 to 20 feet of air and sometimes they wipe out spectacularly. It’s quite the site to see. The last photos are of another hike to the Goldstream trestle, but this time we crossed the trestle and another trestle to find an old railway tunnel. It’s pretty cool, right?

HAPPY CANADA DAY!

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9wearing: top from plen+y, forever 21 necklace, dad’s belt, diy shorts, born boots, thrifted purse

Happy Canada Day everyone! Canada is 146 today – time to party with this old man/woman. I know that 146 is hardly anything compared to some European countries, but hey. So these are my DIY shorts in all their glory and I think they turned out really well. I love how they look messy because of the spray paint. And of course glitter makes everything better, right?

Lots of love,

Kate
