On Saturday I attended the Niche Inspiration Ball with Carly and it was quite the experience. Think red carpet, fancy hotel, gowns galore, sapphire blue cocktails, white table cloths, too many forks and spoons to count, an exuberant live auction and memories to last a lifetime. I felt slightly underdressed, but seeing as I only bought my ticket on Thursday, I didn’t feel too bad. My skirt is La Fee Verte from Still Life for Her which I bought last year as an absolute splurge, my heels are from Zara and my purse and top are thrifted.
Once Carly and I walked the red carpet we snuck off to take some pictures in Empress Hotel’s lovely garden. I think we will definitely be back to take some more photos, even though tourists are always milling around. Once we were back inside it was time for dinner which consisted of a pear salad, herb crusted salmon and creme brulee for dessert. Nom! The live auction followed dinner and after that ended there was more mingling and Carly and I had the opportunity to meet Niche editor-in-chief Tracey Drake.
All the proceeds from the Inspiration Ball will go towards the the Cridge Transition House for Women and the Women for Women International Education Program.

It has been said before, but the world works in mysterious ways. I’ve been interested in fashion blogs and blogging for a while, I even started my old blog Kate Leola back in October of last year. Once I graduated from college I thought I was going to be posting more, but I lacked the motivation, so I didn’t post.
However, last Sunday I arranged to meet up with fellow local blogger Carly Dame of Style Snapshot and we instantly clicked. We both were au pairs, we both love thrifting, ect. Carly’s dedication to her blog has really ignited my motivation to post more. It has also made me want to meet more fashion minded people whether it be through the internet or in person.
Speaking of meeting more fashion minded people, Carly and I are attending Niche Magazine’s Inspiration Ball tonight at the Fairmont Empress Hotel. It was a last minute decision for me, but Carly won a ticket from Niche and gave me a discount to get mine so I hardly could say no. I’m so excited!!
Carly and I took these pictures at St. Ann’s Academy and the light was perfect (I love it when that happens!). I’m wearing my treasured hi-lo skirt from Suasion, my Mom’s old shirt and to top it all off my self-made floral crown. The flowers are quite large, so it is definitely a special event piece.

Ahh Game of Thrones with your fun, medieval mixed with fantasy terminology. It took me reading the phrase “Break your fast” several times before I understood it was just simply a longer and much more flowery way of saying “breakfast.” I’m just about to finish book 2, so no spoilers! Luckily I was able to avoid Facebook and Twitter like the plague after the season 3 finale aired.
In these photos I’m wearing the coveted black and white striped pants that every blogger feels the need to own. They don’t feel unique on the internet, but in good old Victoria, BC they are. I always get several stares walking down the street in these bad boys. I’m sure you’ll see them popping up again over the summer.
I love taking pictures at the Breakwater and I was glad I took my camera along when my friends and I decided to go last month. Which one is your favourite?

I spent Mother’s Day in Saanichton at Sea Cider Farm and Ciderhouse. I drove so my Mom could get the long flight of cider (she got to try every cider!), so she could enjoy her day slightly tipsy. We got seated right away on one of there long wooden tables that were decorated with a local artists metalwork. The high ceiling gave the room an industrial feel and the service was warm and welcoming.
Although it was served at room temperature, the Pomona dessert wine was the standout for me. I’m not going to try and describe it, so I’ll let the bottle do it for you: “Pomona is a concentrated elixir crafted by freezing then slowly fermenting crab apple juice, yielding a dessert cider with apple and confectionary notes.”
My translation: “It’s good.”
Have a good Monday,

Vanessa and I graduated April 12th. I know it was a while ago, but here are the pictures! We presented our final project Victoria’s Wardrobe which it a clothing store directory for Victoria. We made an awesome power point (the slides moved themselves, c’mon how awesome it that?), we got to wear spectacular dresses and we got to see what our classmates did for final projects. The projects varied for music videos to photography books and even some did commentary on video games. I didn’t even know that was a thing! All that being said the night was marvellous and I got to look like Rainbow Fish to boot. Speaking of rainbows, I saw a double rainbow the other day when I was playing Ultimate Frisbee, I was tempted to react like this guy. But I digress.
The dress I’m wearing is from one of my favourite Vintage/Consignment shops in Victoria, Regalia Boutique. Unfortunately they closed their doors a couple of months ago, but hopefully they’ll be back soon! My hair was done by Tiffany at Carreiro the Studio, and I think it was 2.5 hours well spent (even if it made me miss my class picture!).
With Vanessa moving to Vancouver on Tuesday, I will mostly be updating this blog and Victoria’s Wardrobe myself. However, I’m sure I’ll visit Vanessa lots so I’m sure you will still see her on here.
All the posts below this one are from my old blog Kate Leola. I’ve decided to create this blog under the subdomain of victoriaswardrobe.com, because I’m paying for the web hosting anyways. And who knows, maybe I’ll customize it in the future.
Lots of love,
